I chose to go with my Immigration project and the work I did for the YCN design awards, my Feel Good project. In the magazine rack is my portfolio and just in front is my business cards.

For our exhibition we, the Graphic Design class at the University of Gloucestershire, have made ourselves a website to showcase some of our work!

My final project for my degree was another information based project, this time executed in the form of a book. I chose the subject of facebook to show the enormity of the social networking site and how rapidly it has grown. All of the statistics were set out using circles to keep a running theme and the colour palette was loosely based around the colours facebook uses.

Hopefully I will be getting some better pics up soon, so bear with me.

Immigration

Another of my final projects at uni was a series of information graphic posters purely stating facts to create awareness. I worked with my friend Oliver Wenman and we shared the task equally, myself doing most of the research and him doing most of the execution as he’s a genius with a mac!! I’m very grateful and love the finished product. Immigration was a hot topic recently in the general election, so this project couldn’t have come at a better time. It certainly got our class talking, and informing them of statistics they didn’t realise.

Got introduced to a band called Mouthwash this weekend by my friend, whilst visiting her in Brighton. If you’ve never heard of them, check them out.

Here’s a link to a song of theirs called ‘No Fear’

They come under the umbrella of ‘urban ska’ and I can’t get enough of it!

Reminds me of Brighton beach, summer time, sunshine, festivals and dancing with friends in dirty clothes with dirty hair and face paint everywhere! HA

BRIGHTON

What a gorgeous weekend we’ve just had! and I got to spend it in the lovely Brighton, on the beach mmm! Lots of sunbathing. shopping and drinking cocktails took place! So sad that my friend is moving next month, but I’m sure we’ll go back again one day. Met some lovely girls from leeds too, can’t believe they’d travel so far for a night out!

I have a lot of love for food, especially when it’s as good as green thai curry!

I went to brighton at the weekend to visit a friend who is vegan, and we stopped by a lovely vegetarian cafe for lunch….and this is the delicious meal i chose!

Greeting Cards

Another of my final briefs was to design and produce a series of greeting cards that could be sold. I chose to make something in a style similar to that of Rob Ryan’s work.

I pain stakingly cut out each card and then sewed a piece of patterned paper into the center, the envelopes were then made to match the center paper.

So my final leg of uni is over, all five major projects have been handed in! now let’s hope the results are good.

I haven’t blogged in ages. Sorry!

Here’s another of my projects from uni, (the first being the wallpaper i designed and boxed)

This one is called ‘passing of time’ and is a representation, almost of stop motion effect, of light passing around an object. In this case I used typography as my object. I chose to keep a simple typeface and decided on Gill Sans to show a clean strong shadow. To start with I photographed the whole alphabet and then moved on to making maquettes with a letter on each side, this created interesting light and shadow patterns.

Each book is like a flip book showing the movement of light.

Earrings Galore

After spotting a little something on my friend Nicole’s blog. http://www.mouseandcupcake.blogspot.com/
I decided to be a little copy cat. She’d scanned in lots of pieces of her jewellery, and the outcome looked really interesting. So I tried it out for myself. I love the new light and textures it brings by scanning them, and the pattern that could be made out of them. I did it with buttons to, as in the ‘wallpaper’ brief I mentioned earlier, I had originally decided to sew buttons on to the paper.
